Spotlight: Women Leading the Way

“I am very proud to be part of a male dominated career. It’s an honor to serve my community this way, as I ensure that they have access to clean and safe water.”

In Malawi, despite traditional gender roles, over 70% of all the water committees trained by IsraAID are made up of women – taking charge of their communities’ water sources and challenging stereotypes in the process. Beatrice, an area mechanic, mother, and livestock farmer in Phalombe, has personally rehabilitated 22 boreholes in one of the districts hardest hit by Cyclone Freddy.
